GENESEE PARK RESTORATION

In partnership with the City of Seattle, and collaboration with USDA Forest Service, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Green Seattle Partnership, O’Dea High School is helping renovate the Genesee Park natural area as part of our Centennial Service Project. Genesee Park is where many of our teams practice, so we felt this was a great place to focus our time for a yearlong service project. Each month a different group from O’Dea works with a volunteer from the city to learn about the importance of healthy urban forests, remove invasive species, and plant native trees and shrubs. Our goal is to have representatives from all our community groups take part in this project throughout the year, and we hope all students, alumni, current or alumni parent, or staff member, will join us!

Through December over 150 members of the O’Dea community have volunteered their time to this service project. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and please email us at OdeaCentennial.org if you would like to learn more.
